Five Great Things About Thanksgiving

Five Great Things About Thanksgiving

Being a Modern American Comfortwear company, Thanksgiving is a time to rejoice in all things comfort. The holiday started in 1621 with the Harvest Feast and has surely evolved over the years yet remains rich in tradition. We all celebrate in slightly different ways, and we all have our favorite parts of the holiday were looking forward to all year. Thus, I wanted to share my take on the “5 Great Things About Thanksgiving” to do with family and friends in the modern era.

Comfort food is a big part of our culture here at Sportiqe and the traditional Thanksgiving meal is defined as just that. I love the turkey, yams, and gravy but in my eyes, the true star is the stuffing.  I only have it once a year and it is pure comfort.

The tradition of football started in 1876 when Yale played Princeton. Thus from then on, watching or playing football on Thanksgiving is something we look forward to doing with friends & family. However, for me, having a passion for NBA Basketball there are 13 NBA games to watch over leftovers.

The first Thanksgiving parades started in the 1800s and was further adopted in 1920 by Gimbel’s department store in Philadelphia. However, the Thanksgiving parade became one of the top 5 great things in 1924 with the advent of the Macy’s parade and then further popularized in 1927 with balloons and floats.  Well, as they say, the rest is history. It’s a highlight of the holiday morning.

Celebrating an American holiday with tons of shopping deals is just about as American as apple pie. People are out and about, the energy is high and finding the perfect gifts for loved ones is everyone’s mission. In my opinion, the best way to participate is online, in the serenity of my living room. Industry speaking, it’s peak season for us at Sportiqe and the hustle around the office is infectious. It’s the best time of the year.

To me, this is the best part of Thanksgiving. Taking time to reflect on what you are truly thankful for. Putting yourself in a state of gratitude releases that comfort feeling we at Sportiqe strive for.

Happy holidays to you and your herd. Spend it with loved ones, reflect on how much you have to be thankful for today and every day, rejoice in all things comfort.

Best,
