My personal style is all about basics. I love to mix and match and layer basics. As a kid in the seasons of Minnesota, I lived in t-shirts layered with sweatshirts. In college, I remember buying a Chicago Bulls athletic gray sweatshirt. It was expensive, but I recognized the quality and loved the look of it. I had to have it. I wore the heck out of it... with chinos, sneakers and layered it over t-shirts and collared shirts for a preppy look.
I carry from my youth that life just feels better in cool-looking, comfortable clothes and I learned that you don’t need to have a lot, you just need to love what you have. Even today, the values and lifestyle of my roots are unchanged. I love to mix and match and layer quality basics that are timeless and ageless.
Now, I design and wear elevated basics- clean and minimal silhouettes that have just the right amount of details and are made with great fabrics and a flattering fit, for those who want to look and feel great, without looking like they tried too hard.
My new favorite: The Derek crewneck sweatshirt.
Inspired by vintage athletics, this classic crewneck has a great mix of texture with heathered french terry, a ribbed “V” notch and side panel gussets.
Elevated basics like the Derek are so versatile. I wear this crewneck layered over a basic tee, with joggers and flip flops for a casual weekend morning to get coffee.
The slimmer silhouette, also allows me to layer it under a blazer, paired with chinos and clean sneakers for a modern prep look.
